When Shrewsbury Town Football Club wanted to create an outdoor gym, McGregor and BeaverFit made it happen. As part of our ongoing partnership, we deployed the Shield Canopy, providing a durable, all-weather cover for fitness classes and boot camps.

BeaverFit has long been at the forefront of outdoor training solutions. It all started when founder Tom Beaver built his training equipment for the gruelling Arch 2 Arc challenge—a run to the Channel, a swim across it, and a cycle to Paris. When the British Army took notice, it sparked the idea of container gyms, leading to their first major project: temporary gym areas for military personnel at the 2012 Olympics. The exposure catapulted BeaverFit onto the global stage.

We worked with Bruce Duncan, Lead Project Manager for Human Performance at BeaverFit on this project. Bruce highlights how their early focus on outdoor fitness, originally for soldiers, positioned them perfectly for the rising commercial demand. Now, they’re securing contracts with major gym brands like David Lloyd, proving that outdoor fitness isn’t just a trend—it’s the future.

Shield Canopy allows us to use the container to the absolute fullest. The canopy does not obstruct any part of the container and sits neatly on the top of the containers, giving an overall smart look to the set up. The McGregor clamping system keeps the front & back of containers available for us to install our rigs.

Rapid deployment

Shield Canopy has a modular construction, allowing an existing canopy to be expanded with low effort and reduced investment. Building units can be joined together in a multi-bay setup, stacked and arranged in a format to suit the specific use case.
